Ersel Oymak
Equinix Türkiye / Managing Director
Ersel Oymak is a technology and digital infrastructure leader with over 36 years of international experience spanning digital transformation, strategic partnerships, innovation ecosystems, and goto-market (GTM) leadership across industry, academia, start-ups, and government. He is currently Managing Director, Equinix Türkiye, reporting to the Vice President, Growth & Emerging Markets EMEA. In this role, he drives market development, ecosystem growth, and supports
organisations in accelerating digital transformation, cloud adoption, and AI-enabled infrastructure strategies.
Prior to Equinix, Ersel served as Regional Sales Director UKI & EMEA at Hepapi, alongside board and advisory roles, including Board Member at Knowledge Exchange UK (KEUK) and Advisory Board Member (Technology and Higher Education Lead) at West London Chambers of Commerce.
Earlier, at University College London (UCL), he held multiple leadership positions, including Head of Strategic Alliance Directors & Corporate Relationships in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Strategic Alliances Advisor & Innovator-in-Residence, and Senior Strategic Sales Business Development Director in the Department of Computer Science. He led majör commercialisation and industry engagement initiatives and contributed to transformational partnerships through UCL East, the university’s largest campus expansion.
Before UCL, Ersel spent 13 years at CISCO, serving as Strategic Vertical Sales Manager across EMEAR and later Innovation Technology Manager for the UK & Ireland, leading co-innovation programmes, start-up ecosystem engagement, and large-scale collaboration initiatives that delivered over £100 million in co-funded innovation projects. He also served as Head of Strategic Sales Business Development at AcoustoFab and as Strategic Advisor to CEO at several technology ventures, including Giga Venture, Esurer, OktoPeople, Metasonixx, and Cybertonica, supporting growth strategy, partnerships, and market expansion.
Earlier in his career, Ersel held international leadership and engineering roles at Nevotek, Enterasys Networks, KoçSistem, Siemens, RKW ITER SA, and the Turkish Navy. He co-authored University–Industry Partnerships for Positive Change: Transformational Strategic Alliances Towards the UN SDGs, published by Bristol University Press and presented at the Science Summit during the United Nations General Assembly (2022).
Ersel holds an MSc (Eng) in Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications from the University of Liverpooland a BSc (Eng) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Yıldız Technical University. He is fluent in English and Turkish, with intermediate proficiency in Spanish and Hungarian.
Married with a 12-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter, Ersel enjoys music (guitar and singing), geopolitics, current affairs, and learning languages.
